What’s your morning routine?
It seems of late everybody is obsessed with the morning routines of the wealthy and successful!!
They get up at stupid o’clock, workout, meditate, practice gratefulness, eat an acai/granola/quinoa/kale/low carb/low GI/low everything breakfast, read a book and all before 7am!! The routine is SO important as it sets the tone for the day, and gets your mind into the right state to perform at your highest level!
But it’s not only your mind that needs the right kick start to the day - our body is just as important and as we progress through life the PROPER MORNING ROUTINE for our bodies is in some opinions key to longevity in our bodily health.
It all starts with getting out of bed. Do you simply roll out, stand up and shuffle to the bathroom?? If you really think about it our body has just stayed in virtually the same position for the past 6/8/10 hours (10 with no kids), so to simply put weight into it without any form of warm-up is asking for trouble!! Here’s why:
Our joint cartilage secretes a natural lubricant called SYNOVIUM. This enables the joint to move smoothly with no friction like any well-oiled machine. SYNOVIUM release is stimulated via movement and weight-bearing, and diminishes with rest hence STIFF JOINTS!
Soft tissues like tendon and ligament rely upon fluid filled (hydrated) COLLAGEN fibers for strength and elasticity. Movement and load bearing increases hydration and promotes elasticity, whereas rest and no movement causes drops in hydration; and any injured parts have fluid pooling. So STIFF MUSCLES AND LIGAMENTS.
Blood flow into the legs is turbo-charged through muscles contracting under gravity -hence lower BLOOD FLOW.
To promote a healthy body, and set the tone for the day here is my MORNING MOVEMENT ROUTINE to negotiate around all that time resting:
While we are at it, adding the right elements into your diet can certainly go a long way, and here are my top 5 FAVOURITE DIET SUPPLEMENTS TO PROMOTE HEALTHY JOINTS and TISSUES:
Glucosamine Chondroitin - a shell fish derivative to help promote healthy joint cartilage, manage inflammation and stiffness.
B Vitamins - B6/B12/Niacin have all been documented to aid in tendon health and repair
Tumeric - a natural anti-inflammatory
Vitamin C - promotes tendon and ligament health
Collagen Supplements - helps to promote the repair of injured tissue, and health of collagen based fibers.
Top of the morning to you!!
